If you’ve been following the work we do here at Gas South, you know we offer more than great natural gas rates and Georgia’s highest-rated service. We also give back 5% of profits each year to support children in need, which is a community-building effort each of our customers is automatically part of.

From time to time, this effort to support children also aligns with our desire to help create a more sustainable planet, and that happens to be the case with this week’s Fuel For Good Ally spotlight, Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS).

As one of our 10 Fuel For Good Allies, GCPS, partnering with clean energy educational leaders KidWind, received almost $200,000 near the end of 2023 from Gas South to strengthen STEM curriculum (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) for school children in Gwinnett County. Our partner Sol Systems also contributed to this effort, bringing the overall donation to about $300,000.

This money is helping public schools in Gwinnett County develop energy-specific learning tools and resources, train teachers, engage students and work toward becoming STEM certified. Students will be able to apply what they’re learning about sustainable energy to help solve real-world problems, as well as take part in renewable energy competitions at the state and national levels.

As a company that cares about childhood education and making the future more sustainable, we’re proud to make a difference for schools in Gwinnett County, one of the largest school districts in the nation. Together, we can help build the next generation of energy leaders.
