Recognizing Gas South upon its 20th anniversary; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, Gas South proudly celebrates its 20th anniversary as a trusted natural gas provider, having opened its doors on January 5, 2006, in Atlanta, Georgia, under the ownership of parent company Cobb EMC; and
WHEREAS, since its founding, Gas South has grown from serving 168,000 customers to nearly half a million customers in the residential, commercial, and industrial sectors, with a footprint that now spans 17 states in competitive natural gas markets throughout the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Midwest; and
WHEREAS, Gas South has earned the distinction of being Georgia's top-rated natural gas provider, boasting an impressive 4.7-star average on Google with more than 5,000 customer reviews; and
WHEREAS, beyond its business success, Gas South takes pride in a company culture rooted in caring for customers and employees while elevating its industry and communities; and S. R. 657 - 1 - 26 LC 129 0657
WHEREAS, from its humble beginnings with 36 employees, Gas South has been a significant job creator, now employing well over 400 people across offices in Atlanta, Georgia; Gainesville, Florida; and Norfolk, Virginia, and was recently recognized as one of Atlanta's top 20 companies to work for; and
WHEREAS, at the heart of Gas South's purpose “To Be A Fuel For Good” is its pledge to give back 5 percent of annual profits to youth in need, resulting in over $26 million contributed to the communities it serves and creating impact far beyond energy.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize and congratulate Gas South on its 20th anniversary, commend its dedication to excellence, community impact, and employee care, and wish the company continued success in fueling progress, purpose, and possibility for the next 20 years and beyond.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Gas South.
