Gas South Service Disconnections
How to Manage Possible Service Disconnections
As Georgia’s most-trusted natural gas provider, all of us here at Gas South hope you’re never in a situation as a customer that might lead to disconnection of your natural gas service. But we also understand these scenarios are sometimes unavoidable.
Below, you’ll find more information about how and when we proceed with disconnections and how to prevent and remedy them.
What if I can’t pay my bill?
If you’re having trouble with your bill and worried about being disconnected for nonpayment, there are a few options you might find helpful.
First, we offer residential and small commercial pay plans if you’re currently unable to pay, as long as you’re able to pay soon. Call us at 877-472-4932 to discuss your options, or log into your account to set up a one-time payment plan.
Second, there are a variety of programs you might find helpful if you need financial assistance. See more about them here: Energy Assistance Programs.
How can I make a payment to avoid disconnection? If you’re wondering about different ways to pay, you’ve got several options with Gas South to make paying your bills easy. One of the simplest ways is through your free online account. If you haven’t set it up yet, it only takes a few minutes to register with your account number and social security number.
With your online account, you can pay your bill using a checking or savings account or with a credit or debit card—or sign up for Auto-Pay while you’re online and never worry about missing a payment again. You can also pay by phone with a debit or credit card at 877-596-5072, in person with cash or a money order or by mail with a check or money order.
Will Gas South disconnect my service without notice? No. If you’re set for disconnection, we’ll never do it without written notice, which we’ll send 15 days prior to your scheduled service shut-off.
If I’m disconnected for nonpayment, how do I get service set back up?Gas South will reconnect your service if you pay your past due balance within 10 days of when your service was disconnected for nonpayment. You’ll be charged a reconnection fee of up to $60.
If you pay your past due balance more than 10 days after your service was disconnected, you’ll need to sign up for new service and may be subject to credit screening and new terms of service. For new service, first visit our rates and plans page.
How long does it take to have service reconnected after it’s been shut off for nonpayment?Once you’ve paid the past-due balance, we’ll work with Atlanta Gas Light to have service restored as soon as possible, though it depends on the availability of their service techs and could take as long as five business days.
Will Gas South disconnect my service if my bill was sent to me late or while I’m disputing a bill? No. Your natural gas service won’t be disconnected for nonpayment of a bill that was not sent to you in a timely manner or for any portions of a bill that’s part of a billing dispute. Customers will have at least 20 days after the bill date to pay the bill.
